The extensive list of nicknames I’ve had over the years.
Over the years I’ve had many nicknames. Some more important than the others. A friend of mine once said: “Only the devil and you have these many names.” This is a list of all of them. Starting with the ones I consider important.
Important Ones
Nayru
First one I used as I made my first ever email with my friends. It comes from the videogame The Legend of Zelda. Nayru is the Goddess of Wisdom. My best friends at the moment, Oscar and Christopher; and I decided to choose one of the three goddess each, and call us like them. We didn’t even know they were female, our english wasn’t that good.Lestat
My main name for a long time. It comes from the main antagonist of Interview with the Vampire from the Anne Rice book series The Vampire Chronicles. I always preferred villains and secundary characters. Always much more interesting fellas than the main ones. A shame, later and very fast, Lestat became the main protagonist of the whole series, since the very second book Lestat the Vampire. I still loved him and used the name for decades.
Monles
Basically a contraction of the names Monica (a crush of mine from Preparatoria (High School) and Lestat. I kinda ended up hating that name, it sounds horrible. I used it first on Ace Online if I recall correctly, probably even before that in Air Rivals, only couple months before anyway. That’s where I founded my clan SectionXIII. More info, including the most important milestones in its website: https://sectionxiii.com
Zoryth
Main name for a long time too. It’s not mine per se. I started using it in honor of a long lost friend of mine. It was her nickname. She was very special for me and the reason women with glasses wake up an instant attraction very deep inside me. It was circa 2008 last time I saw her online.ZorLes
Again, a contraction. Like if I didn’t learn my lesson. now using my two main names at the moment: Zoryth and Lestat. I used it extensively, even being my main Twitter handle for some years. Yes, I ended up hating it too. Even my friends told me that they preferred Zoryth.
Jill Samus
A combination of two very similar characters. Jill Valentine from Resident Evil and Samus Aran from Metroid. As you can see, both in their battle suits are very similar. Both are blonde with ponytail, the battle suit is tight with blue color, very strong main characters of their respective franchises. Why it became an important name tho? Well, just chance to be honest. I created 9 characters in Guild Wars 2, this one (a Revenant) ended up being my main. Thus, all people in my clan started calling me Jill.
Daahrien
My main name now. I decided I needed an original name. Can’t really keep Zoryth as it’s not mine. So, I started thinking, remembering all the things I liked: characters, movies, games. Until I thought about Darien Shields from Sailor Moon, and I modified it a little bit to be original. So Daahrien was born. Most likely I will use it a long time. It has to do with the total makeover of my company. Basically, a makeover of myself. Much more on that on later posts.
Not important
Debonair
It’s the go-to name when I need to register on a forum or website in which I don’t really care much if people see me there. It comes from my favorite Videogame of all time Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Which happens to have a reference to Lestat.Aoshi/Okashira
It comes from Rurouni Kenshin franchise. Leader of the Oniwabanshuu, a clan of ninjas. Depicted as a person with no emotions, and looking cool as hell. Hair, clothes, face and everything. I started using his name, a little bit. It still is my go-to name for ingame pets (f.e. Guild Wars 2), etc.
Prince Ali
I used it a little bit to sell my (low quality) games on Kinguin. It comes from Aladdin. It’s the name he uses to pass for a Prince (with the help of the Genie) to make Jasmine fall in love with him. I like the song from the live action a lot, so I started using the name.
Aphrodite
I never used it publicly. I was going to use it as a “hacker” name. But ended up ditching the whole “project”. It comes from the Greek Goddess of Beauty. I always liked her. It probably started from the Mitos y Leyendas card of the same name, and later because of the song from Destripando La Historia called Afrodita, which I have listened to hundreds of times.
Cool Trivia
- Of all my names, 4 are feminine: Nayru, Zoryth, Jill Samus and Aphrodite.
- Thought of using Samael, as it is the name of the devil, when he was still an angel. A little bit of extra info: I don’t like angels anymore. I always preferred science and it is not congruent thinking too much about angels (because they are beautiful). I now prefer to think about people and science. The logo for the old name Zoryth Games was an angel. (show the logo). And also, the reason I changed the rank names in my clan.
